Creator/Contributor:

Cole, Betty, 1929-2015, creator, creator.

Abstract:

Scrapbooks and photograph album pertaining to musical theater performer Betty Cole and the Straw Hat Theatre of Berkeley, Calif., with which Cole was affiliated for many years. Albums document the revue's productions and the performances of Cole and her fellow performers from 1951-1954 and 1965, at various venues in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout California. Albums include many snapshot and publicity photographs, as wells as programs and other printed theater ephemera, and clippings of reviews of and advertisements for Straw Hat productions. Also includes many negatives of the 1953 summer stock tour in New England (of which many corresponding prints are present, especially in vol. 4) and numerous negatives documenting Cole's personal life (of which very few corresponding prints are present). A small group of negatives pertain to the Straw Hat Theatre's 1966 season. Includes small file of snapshots depicting actress Jane Connell (U.C. Berkeley graduate) on the television studio set of Bewitched during filming of the "Hepzibah" episode 1970, with Cole as her on-set guest
